If You’d Like to Be a Child of God, Move Forward by Richard Roberts

Well, I grew up and my pop was the priest of a little country church and I would go to him and once he was evangelizing in Georgia in a little small church and he said,’If you’d like to be a Christian, come forward,’ and I was six years old but I just felt like i needed to do it.
And so you went forward. At what age did you start preaching? I was allocated pastor of 3 small country churches in Whitsburg, Georgia, when I was l9 years old.
You had them at the same time, failed to you? Oh, yes. Three churches. Richard Roberts evangelise one sunday at one church and one at another.
Is there some experience during those circuit-riding days that stands proud in your mind? Oh, there are a lot of them. My first sermon I preached l3 minutes and told them everything I knew.
We’re outdoors in the pretty Oklahoma sunshine and my special guest today is Dr. Charles, God bless you. Welcome. You’re a senior minister at first United Methodist in Houston for 23 years. You’ve served in the ministry, I know, lots more years than that. But you really came into the ministry through your pop as he used to be a minister, isn’t that right?
Yes, my father was priest in North Georgia of tiny, rural churches and this is where I got my start. Well, Dr. Allen, your ministry is generally known. I suspect you’re one of the best-known bible bashers in America. Yeah, I had a fun time. Again and again I hear them talk about being priest of the biggest church. you know, I mostly think about Goliath was the largest but David was the best.
And to me the biggest is not the most critical. many of these tiny small churches galvanize me too.
